The Shimer CHP is an intensive program of seminars on political philosophy, mentoring towards college preparedness, and civic engagement for high school students across Chicagoland. Come June 2023, the inaugural class of 18 Freedom Scholars—rising high school seniors from low-income families and historically marginalized groups who are among the first in their families to attend college—will arrive for a three-week residence on the North Central College campus during which they will complete a 2-credit hour Shimer course on political philosophy designed specifically for the CHP.
