About

Shaun Wild Memorial Scholarship

Born on November 13, 1987, and raised in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Shaun R. Wild was a remarkable leader, who accentuated the positive. He overcame anger issues when he was in the fourth grade with the help of his teacher that year, who showed Shaun his potential. It was during that year of grade school that Shaun decided he was going to be an Elementary Education teacher.

Shaun was the quarterback of his Brown Deer High School football team and constant mentor to young students and friends on the team. He was an outstanding track athlete and sang in his high school chorus. Shaun played baseball growing up, and was known by local newspapers and throughout the state of Wisconsin for his athletic prowess.

Shaun began playing football for Northern Illinois University, a division one school. When he transferred to North Central College, Shaun continued to play football for North Central as the Cardinal’s punter. He earned his B.A. in Elementary Education from North Central College and served as the President of the Student Leaders Association of Teacher Educators (SLATE). He was also a member of the Student-Athlete Honor Society. Once again, Shaun mentored young punters and friends on the football team and SLATE.

Shaun Wild is an extraordinary example of what one individual can accomplish through his commitment to education and sports. Prior to his death on February 4, 2012, he was Naperville’s Spring Brook Elementary Second Grade Teacher. He loved his students and made an effort to ensure that his second graders progressed academically and socially. Outside of the classroom, Shaun showed his students that he cared by attending their sporting events. The Naperville community remembers Shaun for going above and beyond the call of duty as a dedicated teacher.

Shaun leaves a lasting memory of positive change and improvement to Brown Deer High School, North Central College, and Spring Brook Elementary. The Shaun Wild Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Shaun Wild, who will be remembered as an extraordinary individual, son, teacher, mentor and friend.
